UNDP Development Partners in MalawiPartnership for DevelopmentAs one of the Millennium Development Goals, the creation of partnership as a vehicle for the eradication of poverty has become very important in the global development agenda. This is precisely because in addition to facilitating the surmounting of the myriad of challenges faced in the eradication of poverty, partnerships also enhance the creation of more synergy and development of larger constituencies for advocacy and influencing of policies and programmes that negatively impact on the poor. In Malawi, some of these challenges include essential reforms in order to promote broad-based pro-poor economic growth and good governance. Consequently, as a trusted and long standing development organisation, UNDP Malawi has built joint operational and strategic partnerships with the government of Malawi and other organisations in order to maximize the overall impact of development cooperation in Malawi. In addition to its result-oriented development programming, some of the other strengths that UNDP Malawi brings into these partnerships are:
Bilateral Development Partners:Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) German Development Assistance Agency (GTZ) Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) UK Department for International Development (DfID) Multilateral Development Partners:European Union World Bank International Monetary Fund National Partners:Executive Parliament Judiciary Maseda Council for Nongovernment Organizations in Malawi (CONGOMA) Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) National Statistical Office Ombudsman's Office Human Rights Commission National Aids Commissions |
